2017 - Paris, France

Construction of an office building with a metal structure above the SNCF tracks of Austerlitz station

39-51 avenue Pierre Mendès France, Zac Paris Rive Gauche Austerlitz Sud, Paris 13e

Designed by architectural practice Antonini+ Darmon, this building with its metal structure overlooks the SNCF tracks of the Gare d’Austerlitz train station.

The complexity of the Éléments project lies mainly in the weight and stability of the structure positioned over a double slab which sits above the station’s platforms. The worksite had to be organised to take into consideration other specific issues involved: proximity with running SNCF train lines and interaction with works involved with creating the designated development zone (ZAC).

The office floors boast numerous picture windows which set the pattern for the facades. The aluminium and wood mouldings serve to highlight a certain elegance.

Green spaces inspired by the Forest of Fontainebleau create variety and relief in this well-situated building in the heart of the new commercial hub of the Paris Rive Gauche ZAC.
